A magical place
A dream I had days ago.
An amusement park that hailed as a magical, wondrous place where dreams really do come true. Everyone wanted to be there and most people went.
You could be captivated by all the wondrous activities in this park. Most wandered around indulging in simple, childlike entertainment. Shopping, eating, going on rides and participating in events.
I suspected something was askew the moment a woman I knew suggested we have an affair. “We’re in the park, we can do anything here.” It was very uncharacteristic of her and took me by complete surprise. I told her no and she heavily berated me and ask me why I even bothered coming here. I noticed the activities were getting really disturbing. People being attacked, women being raped, park goers murdered in plain site. Most people carried on as if nothing unusual happened.
The problem; it was actually a nightmare. Anything could be done in this park. Murder, Pedophilia, rape, etc. People could imbibe any carnal pleasure and rather casually. Truly insane and violent sociopaths ruled enclaves of this park. They would exact harsh punishment on anyone that did not participate or submit to their desires.
Not everyone experienced horrors. There was nothing to fear for those seeking comfortable entertainment. They were oblivious to the extreme acts of violence around them. They never witnessed the horrors because they were too preoccupied by the rather banal activities the amusement park provided.
People that were sufficiently aware recognized the park was a trap. They were at the mercy of madmen. They lived in constant fear and were too paralyzed to do anything. They warned me of demons and ghosts that lay behind every corner. They showed me the monstrous images that awaited me in a photo album. The figures they feared were really childlike and cartoonish. I couldn’t establish what they were really supposed to be, nor could I understand why they were so terrorized. More horrific things were taking place all around them. Their concerns were pale in comparison.
One man stood up make an obvious statement about the park. People were extremely apprehensive knowing he was about to speak. He gathered the courage, stood up and simply point out the hypocrisy of what he’d witnessed in the park. He was instantly vaporized into binary bits and bytes. Simply erased. The remaining people in the room denied everything he said. It had no effect. You could tell the truth, you just couldn’t do it in public.
I was rather curious about what was going on. I looked at the park from a satellite view. There was one distinguishing feature on the map. A rather barren, nondescript hill in the park, surrounded by a chain-link fence. Nobody was there. I seemed to understand the source of the parks power was in this rather barren area in the middle of the park. Maybe it was an antenna dish that broadcast transmissions? It drew no particular interest to the park goers. I sensed that going there wouldn’t be productive. It would draw the attention of the sociopaths that ruled park enclaves and I would be attacked for merely attempting to get near it.
Others tried to escape the park. The path to escaping was rumored to be dangerous and extremely difficult. It was reported that those who tried met a rather gruesome death. Even the most well crafted plan led to ruin. I thought I was smart enough to be successful and found that everything I thought of had been attempted and failed. I reached a point were I didn’t give a fuck because I was exhausted. I just didn’t care anymore, I walked to the parking lot and got in my car. The exit was a bridge that looked like a wide section was was missing and couldn’t be crossed. Should I accelerate and try to jump it? The closer I got I realized the broken section was just a illusion and simply drove over it.
Escaping took nothing more than not playing the game and walking away from it. Everyone else remained behind.
It was everything to everyone. A place to commit heinous crimes, enjoy the rides or remain in fear. Everyone was entertained according to their level of perception. It had something for everyone that chose to be there.
