Lockdown

We've shut down the economy over irrational fears and computer models that were not only flawed, but had a history of being flawed by code that wasn't reviewed, produced wildly different results on subsequent runs with the same data set, by people that didn't conform to the recommendations they endorsed.

For the first time in history, we've essentially quarantined the healthy. In the U.S. alone, the unemployment filings jumped to over 30 million. In perspective, if just half that number has two or more dependents that number doubles. What happens to this people in the future? Do we have any empathy for them or do we just ignore this? I'm sure most people are familiar with the domino effect from childhood.

Isolation, depression, anxiety, threat of suicide, possible abuse due to the economic impact. This "zero tolerance" ideology around "preventing deaths" is irrational. The road to perdition is indeed paved with "good intentions." There are people who are questioning what I consider to be the media and pharmaceutical narrative and the draconian actions of political leaders. Unfortunately, those voices are being shut down on social media. Shunting off politicians and experts that question the policies are not good methods to solve problems. It's dictatorial.

In any planning phase, the long term effects must be considered. You determine loses and gains. Any projections performed on the impact of a lockdown? You'd think people would have considered it. Apparently they haven't. Large businesses are open, small businesses are being gutted. The stimulus is protecting the financial assets of large businesses. Companies like Amazon are booming right now.

I've heard the argument "People just blindly accepted Hitler, they didn't question authority, they just went along!" How are we any different at this point in time if we blindly accept this?  Cui Bono? Corporations have the same rights as a person according to a Supreme Court decision. Smith-Glaxo Cline, Bill Gates could be the new "Hitler" we empower to control every aspect of our lives. Dictatorial powers don't require a toothbrush moustache. Do you trust a for-profit global corporation making decisions decision you don't have a voice in?

The government isn't your parent. It's dangerous to give any government complete and total control regardless of the reasons, regardless if it's an apple pie wrapped in an American Flag delivered by a Chevy. You'll never get back anything you give them.

Giving complete control of our welfare to the government isn't a smart move. The government makes the statement they "want to preserve human lives. Since 1945, the U.S. has been in Korea, Vietnam, Grenada, Panama, Afghanistan, Iraq. Millions of lives lost through warfare and economic sanctions. We've been at war for over 239 years of our 244 year existence. I bring this up only to illustrate that the lives lost was based solely on political interests. They decided who lived and died. We cheered them. The lives of the non-combatants piled in as an "unfortunate result of war."  The majority of the people that were killed did not have the political will or power to threaten our way of life. If we can accept that loss, why can't we accept the loss of people dying from a virus?

Science and government cannot prevent reality from occurring, it's job is to mitigate the risk, not cause devastation through insane policies. Heart Disease, Obesity, Diabetes, Cancer have a far greater toll on the population that the virus. We ignore this. Where is the outrage that these epidemics, as a matter of course kill far more people? Nobody in the pharmaceutical industry benefits from you being healthy. They do benefit from a decades long drug therapies that do nothing but mitigate the symptoms of your condition.

The actions we do or don't take today will impact us tomorrow. There is no escaping the results of a poor decision based on fear alone. Things do indeed happen for a reason. Don't be the architecture of your own destruction.

I'm not endorsing anything but rational thought and critique. We need to hear the voices of those that question policies, they are the foundation of a healthy society. People smarter than me are trying to warn about the effects of a long term lockdown. Will anyone listen?
